Our Story

Our Story

Our blended family came to be on May 1 2010. Our story is like many… Two people coming together in search of love, companionship and joy, bringing along with them a couple of painful life experiences that have shaped who they  have become.

Curtis, was a widower, having lost his wife Laura of 20 years and his 3 wonderful children Kaleb 18, Kelsey 16, and Cameron 14, in a tragic car accident on the way home to Conifer, Colorado in March 2006. Returning from a family spring break trip in Utah, his entire world was lost that day in a single moment.

I too was a widow having lost my Husband of 10 years, a daughter Kaitlyn who was almost 9, and a daughter, Ellie who had just turned 4. They lost their lives in a tragic accident May of 2008 in the tiny town of Sweet, Idaho.  Myself and my youngest daughter Jaden were not in the vehicle at the time. Another daughter, Taylor who was 6, was in the vehicle and had been critically injured with little hope of survival. With many prayers and much faith, she made a miraculous recovery! During Taylor’s recovery in the hospital I discovered lump in my neck which was diagnosed as Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I am now a proud cancer survivor.

In January 2010 Curtis and I were introduced through mutual friends. The first moment we met we felt a deep understanding and connection to one another… not long after we fell in love and were married!  We bought our home here in Castle Rock and our little family has been building new happy memories together!

On October 4th 2011, we welcomed Baby Tracen to our family! What a bonding source of joy he is!

Both Curtis and I were so blessed to live in loving and supportive communities that gave more than they probably could, and served more than they really had time for. We were carried by the prayers of many! Numerous tender mercies and blessings came at a time when we needed it the most! It was the ray of sunshine through the clouds! We are so grateful!

It is because of this that we feel a deep desire to give back! It is our joy to serve and support our own community now, here in Castle Rock, CO!

We welcome you to the Sunshine 7 Ranch and

look forward to meeting you all!
